US technology stocks fell in light trading on Thursday after a brokerage cut its forecast for the semiconductor industry, while blue chips were flat as a continued drop in oil prices eased investor worries.

Shares of chip makers fell after Banc of America Securities lowered its rating on Advanced Micro Devices Inc and cut its growth forecast for the industry, citing higher inventories and slack demand.

The Dow Jones industrial average slipped 1.48 points, or 0.01 percent, to 10,180.26. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 Index was up 0.35 point, or 0.03 percent, at 1,105.31. The technology-laced Nasdaq Composite Index fell 4.39 points, or 0.24 percent, to 1,856.33.
